One of my favorite things about living in Whitewater is that we are equidistant from both Madison and Milwaukee. I love cities and I would never be able to choose between these two. So I don’t. I live between them and in 50 minutes I can be into the downtown of either (and 2 hours to Chicago!). It’s a pretty sweet arrangement.
When a special occasion comes up and I get to pick the destination, I am torn between my two Wisconsin cities. This year for Mother’s Day I chose Milwaukee and this is what my Mother’s Day looked like…
First we had lunch at the Milwaukee Public Market which might just be my favorite place on Earth (warning: I have been known to say the same thing about The Iron Horse Hotel, Ikea, the city of Del Mar, CA). What could be better than a giant indoor market with fish, flowers, wine, Indian food, a juice bar, sushi, cheese, spices, margaritas, and much, much more? Maybe an outdoor market with all the same things… but hey, this is Wisconsin.
After lunch we headed to the Mitchell Park Domes for photo ops and to stop and smell the flowers. This was nice way to spend the afternoon but it was too nice outside to spend the whole day indoors, so we headed over to the lakefront and Veteran’s Park for a stroll in the wonderful sunshine. We laid in the grass, looked at the lake, and walked the shoreline before making the short journey back home.
It was a picture perfect day…
