Whitewater

Whitewater is a small town in the south-eastern part of Wisconsin. There are many totally cool things about Whitewater but one of my favorites is its distance to other cool places: less than an hour to Madison, about an hour to downtown Milwaukee, and less than 2 hours to Chicago.
Another cool thing about Whitewater is the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, aka UWW.
UWW is well known for its business school, wheelchair basketball team, football team, and as my alma mater. I graduated from UWW  with my degree in  communication. The hubs went to UWW too, for his MBA in finance.

Because Whitewater is a college town (with a permanent population of around 5,000 people and a student population of around 10,000) there are far more amenities in Whitewater than other cities of its size: 3 Chinese restaurants, 3 Mexican restaurants, no fewer than 8 pizza places, 3 tattoo studios, and about a bazillion taverns (hey, this is Wisconsin). Still, Whitewater is in a transitional period. Various groups are working to improve the standard of living in Whitewater by attracting more jobs, permanent residents, shopping and dining options, and tourism.

I, for one, am all about improving this great little community. We already have a ton of awesome things going for us; I have never lived anywhere so friendly, caring, and welcoming. Now we just need to keep adding more swell businesses and activities, which will keep the super awesome people interested in living here and creating more swell things to do. Ah, the circle of life.
